  • Hello. I worked for an international humanitarian org. with HQ offices in CA, WA and D.C.. I worked virtually and traveled providing humanitarian assistance all over the world, based in Costa Rica and Florida. My residence is in Palm Beach. Where can I file for unemployment due to a lay off, please?
    Many thanks, Susan

    • You apply in the state to which your employer reported your wages and to which it paid UI taxes. You need to inquire of your HR/payroll people which state that is. Hopefully, it is either WA (max benefit $681) or CA (max benefit $450) for 26 weeks. DC pays up to $359/wk. If your employer reported your wages to FL, your state of residence, your benefit will not be more than $275 for 13 weeks. Good luck.
